Water Department

The Town of Grand Island Water Department was established in 1938 and is proud to serve the 20,000 plus residents of Grand Island. The Town of Grand Island operates its own water treatment plant and the Water Department is responsible for delivering approximately 850,000,000 gallons of high-quality water annually. Water is delivered through 150 miles of pipeline, which are maintained by the Water Department.

The Water Department does new service taps as well. There are approximately 7,350 service connections currently, which are read by the Water Department quarterly each year.

The Town of Grand Island Water Department meets or exceeds all current regulations of the Environmental Protection Agency, New York State Health Department, and Erie County Health Department.
